This site is dedicated to Melanie and trying to get her a Kidney Donor. Why? Melanie has a genetic disorder that is shutting down her kidneys. Other than that she is the picture of health. This may sound good but it also causes issues.
Some times doctors will tend to look at her or make some of her symptoms fit others with kidney failure (obesity, diabetes, etc.) and order needless tests or suggest care options that do not really fit. LUCKY, Melanie has been a registered nurse for a very long time and can, sometimes, decide what is a correct request and what is just ‘treat her like everyone else’ request that doesn’t apply to her situation.
Secondly, Her immunity is very high. While this is typically a good thing, if you’re needed to get an organ from someone else it makes it much more difficult for your body to accept that organ and not fight it off. Getting a match for her is difficult. Her immunity has proven the ability to fight off even close matches. So the very thing that helps keep her alive is also preventing her from receiving a kidney.
She has not lost faith. We have not lost faith.
We know that God is good, he has a plan, we love him and he loves us.
Melanie has not had an easy life, with early struggles and getting married right out of high school, husband struggling to find meaningful work to provide, and not being of help at home. Struggling keeping a home, taking care of children along with part time work to make ends meet and part time school to have something better. Leading to more struggles trying to be fixed with full time work and full time school. Finally graduating and moving up in the working world, still all the while keeping house raising 4 children coping with a trying husband.
So copious amounts of stress finally leading to cancer. Much like this struggle, the struggle with cancer tested us, our prayer life and our understanding of ‘importance’.
Yes, Melanie is cancer free, Praise be to God!
With this new challenge, it seems, we’re called to depend more on others than just ourselves. Melanie continues to be in good spirits and a joy to be around. This site is put in place to help keep that Joy Around for all she comes in contact with, her children and her family.
We are all called to be Salt and Light. Melanie, helps show some of us what that looks like.
Please help keep her around by signing up to donate and/or committing some time each day or each week to pray for Melanie’s Healing.
